Goal
It's time to pass Parking-Protected Bike Lanes!
HB 291 passed the Pennsylvania House and it is now in the Pennsylvania Senate, please sign this petition to tell your state senator to support this bill.
Parking-protected bike lanes are a cost effective way to create more protected bike lanes and reduce all roadway crashes.
The legislation would give municipalities and PennDOT the option to build these lanes. It does not mandate their use. In 2017, PennDOT created a pilot program in Philadelphia to test the efficacy of parking-protected bike lanes and a report found that ridership was up, crashes were down, and there was minimal impact to traffic flow.

I feel much safer in the existing protected bike lanes, and highly support this iniative to ensure all Philadelphians safer access to commute and to outdoor spaces.

It is extremely dangerous to have to move to the lane of traffic to avoid stopped cars and deliveries on the bike lane. Protected bike lanes prevent this problem and have been installed in many civilized cities, with narrower streets than our with great success and far, far less vehicle vs bike accidents. (Florence Italy, Boston, Cambridge, to name a few)

We deserve safe bike routes. So many other places in the world have easy and abundant access to safe bike routes. We should too! It contributes to health, sustainabilty, personal contentment, and community.
